What I Learned From Cutting My Closet in Half

{By Ellery Sadler}

I never really considered myself someone with a lot of clothes.

Of course, I do my fair share of shopping and I love browsing Anthro to see their latest styles and I definitely don’t have a problem spending money on clothes. I just never really considered the fact that I have a ton of clothes.

After drowning in laundry and stuffing my shelves so full they basically always are on the verge of exploding, I decided that was enough. I backed two travel-size suitcases with clothes and shoes and decided that was all I was going to wear for a while.

I’ve learned four things from paring down my wardrobe to about half of the clothes I actually own.

5 Color Trends for Fall

{By Lana Jackson}

Okay people—this is it. This is what we’ve all been waiting for, right? It’s fall!

It’s as if God is whispering to us in the rustling of bronze-colored leaves, beckoning us to notice a change in our surroundings and in our own hearts as well. He’s inspiring us to look forward to Christmas—to the birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and the newness his birth means for all of our lives.

Ah, fall. It rescues you from August heat and pre-games you for Christmas treats. That rhymes.

To make the most of this season’s crisp weather and spirit of newness, here are the 5 new “it” colors and patterns for the fall. I hope you’re as excited as I am about working these new colors into your autumn wardrobe. Kick back with a cup of warm cider and take notes!

The Best Swimsuits for Your Body

{By Ellery Sadler}

Finding a swimsuit that you feel good in can be one of the biggest challenges of your summer wardrobe.

But, as hard as it is, there will probably be at least one beach trip or pool party you go to. So finding the right fit for you is the best way to feel confident when heading into summer. Not everyone looks good in the same shape, so knowing what works for you and what looks good for your body type is the first step when swimsuit shopping.

Everybody can look good in something. You just need to find the right style.

My Top 10 Summer Fashion Goals

{By Ellery Sadler}

Summer is by far my favorite season. There is nothing better than warm weather and shorts and sandals and beach.

But as far as summer fashion goes, I think it can be easy to get in a rut. While it is nice to be able to just throw on a pair of shorts and T-shirt, I have decided (as of five minutes ago) that I don’t want this to be a boring summer for my closet.

So here are my goals for dressing this summer.

Style Inspiration: 8 Ways to Dress Like Rashida Jones

{By Lana Jackson}

To continue my current series on highlighting women with style values* I have decided to review several key looks from actress, author, screenwriter, and occasional singer, Rashida Jones—you know . . . Ann Perkins from Parks and Rec.

One of the reasons I love Rashida’s style is that she understands how to dress for her body type—petite and curvy. Her style ranges from office chic to quirky. And yet, neither her frame nor her imaginative taste in fashion hinders her ability to keep it strikingly modest . . . and that is why she is one of my style inspirations.

How to Wear Yellow This Spring

{By Ellery Sadler}

Wonderful things are yellow. Sunflowers. Sunshine. Butter. (Gotta love butter.) Sand. What’s not to love?

Yellow is my favorite color. It’s been my favorite color ever since I can remember.

Yellow is the color for Spring 2015 and while I knew it was the best color all along, I’m glad the fashion world has caught on. According to the psychology of colors, yellow is uplifting and illuminating.

Yellow is a happy color.

The Beezus Diaries: How to Dress for Adventure

{By Bianca Wohleking}

I’m currently locked inside with the snow that has hit in my area, like many others. While wanderlusting away my mind is looking forward to spring and summer adventures. I thought in these groggy months it would be a great time to let not only my mind but all of us together focus on some beautiful times! Not that this snow is not gorgeous. I’m just a summer baby. Who’s with me?

I’ll start with making travel happen in these winter months. Even though we may not be heading anywhere warm anytime soon, we can dress with natural colors, and embrace the layers.

7 Ways to Dress Like Emma Stone

{By Lana Jackson}

Looking fashionable and honoring Christ with our outfit choices is huge challenge for Christian women everywhere. But I’ve learned that curating looks for myself in pinch can be easy, if I keep a few go-to-girls in my arsenal who share my “style values.”

Style values.

It’s a phrase I use for the principle of understanding that the body should be covered in such a way that it enhances, not takes away from the dignity of the person wearing the clothes.

For me, one of those go-to-girls with style values is Emma Stone. Funny girl. Sometimes Red-head. British Boyfriend.

A Gentleman’s Guide to Paris Street Style

{By Brittany Sadler}

There’s an odd phenomenon I noticed in Paris street style – men and women have almost opposite aesthetics. While the women tend to be more free and easy, a little undone and relaxed, the men are more put together, sleek, and consciously stylish.

Although not all Parisian guys are particularly attractive, they all seem to do an excellent job of tricking you. So here are some of their strategies, as recounted by a careful female observer.

The Beezus Diaries: How to Embrace Your Masterpiece

{By Bianca Wohleking}

Not all are called to be artists in the specific sense of the term. Yet, as Genesis has it, all men and women are entrusted with the task of crafting their own life. In a certain sense, they are to make it a work of art, a masterpiece.

Shh Beauty … Be Quiet

{By Lana Jackson}

This scripture used to bother me. A lot.

Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as elaborate hairstyles and the wearing of gold jewelry or fine clothes. Rather, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle andquiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight.

1 Peter 3:3-4

I remember reading this scripture when I was in my teenage years. It puzzled me. I remember thinking: is Peter instructing women not to accessorize, attempt a fish-tail braid, and make silence our personal ambition in social circles? It seemed to me that God made women with this innate desire to be beautiful and with a desire to talk?

Why does it seem like this verse is contrary to my very nature?
